What are the structural characteristics of the tricone drill bit

Toothed Wheel Bit, also known as Toothed Wheel Bit or Triple Toothed Wheel Bit, is a rotary drilling tool that is widely used in the fields of oil and natural gas exploration and extraction. Its main feature lies in the use of tapered tines as cutting elements to break rock by rotation and pressure. The following are the main structural features of the tooth wheel drill bit:

1. Tooth wheel (Cone):

Quantity: The most common is the three-tooth wheel drill bit, there are also single, double and multi-tooth wheel drill bits, but the application is less. Three-tooth wheel drill is well balanced and has high drilling efficiency.
Shape: The tooth wheel is tapered and its surface is covered with cutting teeth. The tapered design allows the tines to roll and break rock as they rotate.
Bearing: The tooth wheel is mounted on the bit body through the bearing, the type and quality of the bearing directly affects the service life of the bit. Common bearing types are:
Friction Bearing: Simple structure, low cost, but limited bearing capacity, suitable for low speed, low load drilling.
Roller Bearing: This roller bearing has a high load carrying capacity and long life and is suitable for high-speed and high load drilling.
Sealed Bearing: A sealed device is added on the basis of a rolling bearing to prevent impurities in drilling fluid from entering into the bearing, which improves the life of the bearing and is suitable for harsh drilling environment.

Tooth shape: The cutting teeth on the surface of the tooth wheel are the main tool for breaking rock. The design of the teeth needs to be selected according to the lithology of the formation:
Milled Tooth: Processed by milling, the teeth are larger and sharper and are suitable for soft to medium-hard formations.
Inserted teeth (Insert): Carbide teeth (usually tungsten carbide) are inlaid on the body of the tooth wheel, have good wear resistance, and are suitable for medium-hard to hard strata. Inserted teeth can be divided into:
Long Insert: Long and pointed teeth, suitable for softer ground.
Short Insert: short, blunt teeth, suitable for harder formations.
Button Insert/Tungsten Carbide Insert (TCI): The teeth are spherical or hemispherical in shape, have high compressive strength, and are suitable for very hard formations.

Summary:

The structural characteristics of the tine bit enable it to effectively break various types of rock. Choosing the right tooth wheel drill bit requires comprehensive consideration of factors such as formation lithology, drilling parameters and cost. If you need to buy the right water well drilling rig, click the link below to contact our professional team.

How to use water well drilling rig lubricant correctly

The use of coolant for water well drilling rigs has some similarities to the use of coolant for general drilling, but also has some unique considerations due to the special working environment and requirements of water well drilling rigs. The coolant used in water well drilling rigs is often referred to as “drilling fluid” or “mud”, and its function is not only cooling, but also includes carrying rock cuttings, stabilizing the wall of the well, and balancing formation pressure. The following is a detailed explanation of how to use water well drilling rig coolant correctly: 1. Main functions of drilling fluid: Cooling and lubricating the drill bit:  Reducing the temperature of the drill bit and drill pipe, reducing wear and prolonging service life. Carrying rock cuttings:  Bringing the rock cuttings generated during the drilling process from the bottom of the well to the surface, preventing the accumulation of rock cuttings from clogging the drill bit and the bottom of t...

What are the Basic Maintenance Methods for Water Well Drilling Rigs

Cleaning: After every day's operation, clean the mud, oil, and other debris on the rig in time to keep the rig clean. Checking lubrication: regularly check  the lubrication points to ensure that the lubricant is sufficient and the grease is clean. Fasteners check: you can check whether the bolts and nuts of each part are loose and tighten them in time. Hydraulic system checks: you can check whether the hydraulic oil level is normal, whether there is no leakage phenomenon, and whether the hydraulic oil is clean. Lubrication system maintenance: regular replacement of lubricating oil, grease, cleaning oil filter, and oil tank. Hydraulic system maintenance: regular replacement of hydraulic oil, cleaning hydraulic filter. Cooling system maintenance: clean the radiator, and check the coolant level. Transmission system maintenance: check the tightness of the transmission belt, and replace the worn transmission belt. Electrical system maintenance: check whether the line is firm...

How to adjust the slurry pump impeller clearance

Adjust the core principle of the slurry pump impeller: adjust the clearance between the impeller and the front guard plate (or front and rear sheath) to ensure the efficiency and life of the pump. Too large a gap is low efficiency, too small a gap is easy to wear. 1. vertical slurry pump: Loosen the compression bolt of the bearing assembly. Unscrew the adjusting bolt to move the bearing assembly forward while manually rotating the shaft in the direction of pump rotation until the impeller slightly touches the front guard plate. (Rubber-lined pump) Measure the clearance between the impeller and the front and rear sheaths separately, and take half of the distance moved by the bearing assembly as the clearance value. Use the adjusting bolt to precisely adjust the clearance to the specified value (metal liner 0.5-1mm, rubber liner front and rear sheath clearance is equal). Tighten the compression bolt of the bearing assembly. 2. Center-open slurry pump: Factory has been adjusted, gen...
